We are expanding into cloud hosting and IT support. Maybe you already have an IT job and want some work on the side. Maybe you want to work only a few days a week.
Need an experienced IT Support Person with the following:
1.) Be local to the Houston, TX metro
2.) Have excellent problem-solving skills
3.) Be able to articulate your thoughts and LISTEN to customer’s needs
4.) Must have your own transportation
5.) Have installed and configured Windows Server multiple times along with Hyper-V
6.) Have installed and configured Linux (Ubuntu,CentOS,Fedora,etc..) along with virt-manager, VirtualBox or similar)
7.) Experienced with cabling and hardware (e.g., running ethernet lines or fiber in a small office, installing cards in machines, setting up small office networks).
8.) Have experience with firewalls, switches, routers, and other network devices.
Job Description:
PART-TIME or as needed. Contract gig. Paid by the hour or the job.
Take calls from customers. Some problems can be solved over the phone, some require on-site visits. You must have experience in Windows Server administration. Our hardware is Dell. Customer hardware is whatever. Our operating systems are Windows Server and Ubuntu. Customer operating systems are a mix of Windows 10/11/Server or Apple, VPNs are on Linux. Customers have their own legacy apps. Customer environments are typically 10 to 50 networked devices (PCs, 1 or 2 servers, printers, scanners, etc…). Customers will have a mix of Comcast/AT&T/Logix/Ezee/etc…
Ideal experience: Managed several VMs in a hosted Windows environment.
Environment:
We are a start-up. Our cloud machines are in Austin. Our customers are mostly in Houston. The customers are small businesses that either need on-site support or are in the process of migrating to our hosted platform. We offer VPN, enterprise backup, infrastructure support, virus scanners, firewall configuration, etc…
